Sonic Is In Two Point Hospital Because Why Not

Well, that title really says it all. Two Point Hospital, the all-encompassing hospital building and managing simulator has officially crossed over with Sega properties in the best way possible. In the all-new in-game event, players can finally live out their wildest dreams of being operated on by Sonic the Hedgehog and friends.

Sadly, the event only adds costumes, not characters, so technically the surgeon isn’t actually Sonic, just a licensed professional dressed like him from head to toe. If that isn’t enough, the event also comes with costumes for Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, so your doctors can switch up their outfits when the Sonic one starts to smell.

The event also brings a slew of Sonic memorabilia with it that players can use to make their hospital as Sonic-related as possible. What could be more relaxing than looking up from the comfort of an operating table and seeing the blue-blur himself smiling back at you (or at least someone dressed like him)? Decorations include promotional posters for old Sonic games, flowers straight out of Green Hill Zone, and large, novelty rugs that will be sure to make patients think: “Wait, is that Sonic the Hedgehog,” moments before they go under the knife.

This news comes just two years after Sega’s acquisition of Two Point Studios. It’s good to see that Sega is offering their full support to the wildly talented team at Two Point Studios, but it’s also not hard to see why. The development team already has plans to expand their universe to include Two Point Campus, a sequel that will bring all the fun of creating and handling a hospital to university, which is (at time of writing) slated to come out in 2022. Maybe then we’ll all finally get to see Sonic and friends get their degrees and enjoy the wonders of higher education!

The free DLC couldn’t come at a better time, either, since Two Point Hospital is currently free-t0-play on Steam until August 2nd, Switch until August 3rd, and Xbox until August 1st, with huge discounts across all of these platforms, so there’s never been a better excuse to build a successful hospital, hire the best surgeons in the country, and then dress them all up like Sonic and his buddies.
