We’re less than a week away from one of Sega’s most anticipated releases of the year. Sonic Frontiers is already shaping up to be one of the Hedgehog’s biggest adventures since 1999’s Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. To coincide with this, Sega has released a brand new trailer, which focuses mostly on traveling around the world and the main contact aspects. This is a stark contrast to the majority of the marketing campaign which has drawn some criticism since this past Summer for being a bit on the bland side.

The trailer runs at just under two minutes and starts off with a cutscene of Sonic taking on a plethora of those futuristic-looking robots. It quickly moves to the actual gameplay of Sonic running around a hillside attacking another enemy with his trademark spin attack. We then see more snippets of Sonic repeating similar actions, all the while getting more of a glimpse of how massive the open world truly is. It’s also a breath of fresh air for the title, giving us a much more vibrant view of what Sonic can and will encounter while running around.
The trailer ends with Sonic taking on what appears to be a huge robot boss by going Super Sonic and charging at them head-on. As we mentioned earlier, this will be the first major Sonic title to incorporate an open-word facet on a major scale. The story will revolve around Sonic exploring the Starfall Islands, collecting the fabled Chaos Emeralds, and traverse into special dimensions called Cyber Space. Sonic will be able to use his abilities in adaptable ways to reach new areas and discover hidden secrets about the islands.
Sonic Frontiers will officially launch next week on November 8 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
