Eastshade Studios’s Songs of Glimmerwick has finally revealed its release date of September 30th. The spellcasting school game, dropped a YouTube Release Date announcement to commemorate this news, with new glimpses of the upcoming game, as well as a Steam news announcement showcasing their excitement for the release date.
Songs of Glimmerwick’s Release Date Announcement starts with someone on a boat, coming towards the university, as a grey “Dragon Statue” contemplates giving a “welcome speech” to the new player, he seems to be guarding an entrance to the university isle. The trailer then unveils the university building, which is a huge castle based building with two wide side buildings and four circular towers in the middle, with many buildings covered with plants. Going with the nature theme, there’s trees, a garden, two lakes, and two statues at the entrance to the building road. Then begins the adventure, as a character runs through the forest to meet a horned creature, another runs through a different forest path with winged lambs, then the university town, showcasing much of the npcs and the world.
The trailer also highlights more of the “Abilities” system with “Points” deciding the abilities spellcasters can cast and there are some nature and power based abilities available. While the narrator details how in the past, “Music was banned throughout the islands,” we see glimpses of the university courtyard, “Dance” and “Song” based spell mini games that work using a keyboard, walkways in the woods, and written notes about particular places, items and things that tell, what seem to be, individual stories happening in the world. It also seems that you get those notes, when you complete actions, highlighted in the notebook. You’re able to transmigrate into animals and players seem to gain a new pathway to walk on while being that animal, fly on broomsticks and wander through multiple Landscapes. Songs of Glimmerwick still has a few weeks to its release on Steam, but players can try the demo to gain a feel of the game and its mechanics.
