Following the release of Half-Life: Alyx, there have been a lot of rumors and speculation as to the future of the franchise. Prior to Alyx’s release back in 2020, the Half-Life series has been in limbo following Episode 2‘s release. Half-Life is one of gaming’s most acclaimed franchises due to its rich storytelling, groundbreaking gameplay, physics systems, and more. However, a new leak has revealed something Half-Life related is coming, and it’s coming relatively soon. It is important to note that the leaker shared that the information that was obtained was from an outdated app, meaning this information may not be accurate. That doesn’t mean nothing could be announced.

A Redditor noticed that Valve is listed as one of the exhibitors for Gamescom. Nothing official has been confirmed as of yet but one of the exhibited brands that can be seen is Half-Life. Gamescom 2023 is set to return next month from August 23 – August 27. Host Geoff Keighley returns with Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 22. The show will have new game announcements, trailers and gameplay reveals, talks with prominent developers and creators, and more. If there was any place we’d get an announcement of a new Half-Life game, it could be here. Half-Life: Alyx was revealed during The Game Awards.
Prior to the Redditor’s correction, many in the thread speculated what the game might be. Some say it might be Half-Life 3. Others noted that about a rumored multiplayer game codenamed Citadel set in the Half-Life universe.
If anything Half-Life-related does get announced, many are saying it may have to do with Alyx. Many are pointed to a PSVR 2 port of Alyx which has been rumored for some time. We’ll have to wait and see whether or not anything Half-Life-related gets revealed when Opening Night Live returns on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
