Originally launched on Steam, where it earned a ‘very positive’ user rating, Somber Echoes brings its mythic-futurist Metroidvania design to console players with a refined experience tailored for gamepad controls and larger displays. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game’s haunting side-scrolling world blends Greco-Roman mythology with derelict sci-fi aesthetics across seven distinct environments. Players explore the decaying spaceship Atromitos, an ancient vessel swallowed by void and rot, to uncover secrets and battle extra-dimensional horrors.

Set in a crumbling cosmos, Somber Echoes tells the story of Adrestia, a fallen tribune revived by divine forces and tasked with stopping her twin sister, Harmonia, now a godlike antagonist unraveling reality. The game’s narrative unfolds through environmental storytelling and branching pathways, with multiple endings shaped by the player’s actions and the extent of their exploration across the ship’s interconnected districts.

In addition to the full core campaign, the console release introduces Challenges mode, a new post-launch feature offering standalone combat trials and puzzle-based objectives.
