Sniper Elite 5 Officially Launches This May

One of the longest awaited sequels finally has a release date. Rebellion has officially unveiled to us when Sniper Elite 5 will launch, and it’s very soon. The next entry of the fabled World War II stealth series is coming May 26, which is just a little more than two months away. Rebellion also unveiled a new trailer, as well as a special Deluxe Edition that includes a unique mission to potentially take out one of history’s most infamous characters.

The game’s setting takes place in 1944, with the player taking part in a major operation off of the coast of Brittany. The main objective is to stop a Nazi project called Operation Kraken, which if successful will spell doom for the Allies and end the war in defeat. The release date trailer also shows off some of the trademark features of the Sniper Elite series, such as the popular slow-motion x-ray vision shots that show where the bullet penetrates when you take out your target. The game will also have more customization, an even more enhanced kill cam, and even a multiplayer mode where another player can invade your game and attempt to take you out.

As we mentioned earlier, those who pre-order the title will receive a very unique mission called Target Fuhrer: Wolf Mountain Mission. In this history revisionist entry, players will attempt to locate none other than Adolf Hitler, who is hiding out in his private mountain located in the Bavarian Alps. Apparently, players are encouraged to take out the dictator in “most creative way possible.” This will be the first entry in the franchise since 2017’s Sniper Elite 4, and it certainly has been a long wait. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer to get our hands on it.

Sniper Elite 5 will officially launch May 26 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC. It will also be available on the Xbox Game Pass.
