The new cooking game, Venba, is now available for Steam’s wishlist. The game from Canadian Visai Studios tells the story of an Indian woman recently immigrating to Canada. According to a tweet posted by the game’s official Twitter account, the narrative cooking game will have players exploring a tale of “food, family, love and loss.” You can get cooking with Venba in Winter 2021.

Through gameplay, players will be able to cook authentic recipes from Southern India. As a recent immigrant to a foreign country, the woman cooks these recipes for her family, bringing a taste of their old home to their new one. This exploration of cooking as a way of cultural connection isn’t usually seen in games and Visai Studios’ Venba looks to change that — celebrating the family’s heritage while embracing the new (and sometimes challenging) life ahead of them. The beautiful game’s art style, by freelance artist Sam Elkana, makes it stand out against other cooking games on the market. According to the game’s official website, its soundtrack is also inspired by “Indian Musicals,” further immersing players in the protagonist’s life as an Indian immigrant in the 1980’s.

The game will also feature branching conversations and will have players exploring different narrative stories in addition to cooking the Indian dishes. Visai Studios have not released a specific release date, announcing only that it will be available sometime during 2021’s Winter season. Until then, you can add the gorgeous Venba to your Steam wishlist now.
