Smite’s New 3.17 Patch Comes With a New Game Mode

With Smite having recently seen a new update, the developers have already announced yet another which is soon to be released. Unlike the previous update, this new one will add a new game mode.

In it’s current form, Smite is strictly a competitive game. The only form of so called co-op is the player playing along with AI characters in the place of people. With 3.17 there will officially be a co-op game mode called Xing Tian’s Mountain. Hi-Rez said that the game mode features a, “five-player co-op gamemode combines the best parts of MMO-style boss encounters and wave-based survival modes into a truly unique experience. It’s a diabolical challenge, reeking of the dark power which has corrupted Xing Tian”.

When playing this game mode players will still find themselves ranking up, collecting gold, and buying items. The difference being that the level will start at 13 and the player will be granted 7500 gold at the start of the game. According to the news post,

  • Players will begin at level 13 with 7500 Gold.
  • They will then fight a randomly selected encounter and try to defeat it in the time limit. Upon success, players will move to the next round which will be more difficult in defenses and damage.
  • The top players will be shown on a leaderboard, showcasing how long players can survive Xing Tian’s Mountain.

Along with this, Smite will also be seeing Odyssey 2017. The event will last up until the Smite World Championships at the 2017 Hi-Rez expo.

Every two weeks we will be releasing new content for direct purchase that will grant Odyssey Points, which in turn, will allow you to unlock even more content. Purchasing content, however, is not the only way to get Odyssey Points. Each week, there will be 7 quests to complete that will reward you with even more Odyssey Points.

The new character added in the previous patch, Izanami, will see a damage buff making her abilities last longer. Most prominent is her ability to cloak, which will now last longer on all levels. She will also see her Ultimate deal more damage and scale higher.

Bastet will also see some changes, enabling her to be more effective in the early to mid game levels, while being less effective later on. According to their post Bastet will see, “an increase to her base mana pool, mana regeneration and a slight reduction in the cost of Pounce, Bastet will have more mana available for early game fights, ganks and clear”.
