Those who missed out on the 2012 acclaimed action-adventure Sleeping Dogs can play a remastered edition for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Oct. 10, this year. Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, developed by United Front Games and published by the well-established Square Enix, is specialized for next-generation gaming and is released with downloadable content. The reworked title will be available on the previously mentioned date for European and PAL territories.
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is planned to include 24 DLC add-ons. “Year of the Snake,” which extends the main story, as well as “Nightmare in North Point,” which involves a new horror themed story, make up one-twelfth of the packaged DLC. The game is also adjusted aesthetically to fit next-gen capabilities, including display in 1080p quality.
Senior Producer of United Front Games, Dan Sochan, talked about the re-development in a press release:
We listened to the fans: we tuned gameplay, we added to the ambience of Hong Kong, increased audio fidelity, and pushed the visuals further than we could on the previous generation of consoles.
Vice President of Brand and European Marketing at Square Enix Europe, Jon Brooke, said the game was successful and the studio felt the decision to remake the original Sleeping Dogs for next-gen was simple.
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition puts players in control of undercover Police Officer, Wei Shen. Shen battles a Hong-Kong Triad crime organization. He faces personal struggles throughout his mission. In the game, the role of either a police officer or a Triad member can be taken in play. Martial arts, shooting, and racing are all features which congeal to the Sleeping Dogs formula.
