Slay the Spire 2, the long-awaited sequel to Slay the Spire, has officially passed 5 million copies in sales. Because of this, Slay the Spire 2 is the top-selling game on Steam for March 2026, beating out new releases such as Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert, which is incredible for only being in early access. Slay the Spire 2’s early access started on March 5. By April 3, the game had generated $103 million in revenue on Steam alone, which is incredible for an indie game and for being the second game released by Mega Crit Games, a remote indie studio.

Mega Crit’s Slay the Spire 2 moved a nuts (but deserved) 5.3M copies in March for its early-access debut. To date, it has generated $108 million on Steam alone. All this is to say that Slay the Spire 2 easily… pic.twitter.com/27hTyalLaN

Slay the Spire 2 is an indie roguelike deck builder that was released in early access on March 5, 2026, and has garnered nothing but glowing reviews and high praise. And now passing 5 million copies sold for only being out for a month is nothing short of impressive and well-earned, especially since it’s still early access. With this being Mega Crit’s second game, and being an indie studio, Indie games continue to show the gaming industry that you don’t need to be an AAA studio to succeed.
With this well-earned achievement, indie games and studios once again show off that success in the gaming industry is due to passionate teams and visions. As mentioned before, Slay the Spire 2 is only in its early stages, with future updates to come. The game will only continue to grow, and with revenue of $103 million on Steam alone, the future for the game is going to be a bright and well-earned one, and players are excited for what is to come.
