Skywind Developers Reveal A Completed Mission in New Demo

A private team of fans and developers have been slowly working along in a fan project that started out as a small conversation mod that took some of Morrowind and remade it in the Skyrim engine. That little project has turned into a full remaster of Morrowind. The remaster is going by the name Skywind, a blending of the two names. In early January the team behind the game started releasing new updates have a long hiatus of updates. The team did start indicating that they were nearing completion and could see the light at the end of the tunnel. The team now released a new demo, featuring the Nchurdamz and a tethered quest from the beginning to the end. The updated engine shows off a Dwarven or Dwemer, clockwork city, now set in ruin. Below Nchurdamz is a Daedric ruin, an otherworldly class of creatures that has been a staple of the series since the first game. The demo displayed some combat and exterior environments.

The demo showed off a couple of puzzles but focused heavily showing off the environments updated in the Creation engine since Morrowind was developed on the much older NetImmerse engine. The demo showed off the UI, which is just Skyrim’s as Skywind is still a Morrowind mod for Skyrim. There have been glimpses of full voice acting which is new, as Morrowind keeps most voiced dialogue limited especially for conversations. The demo did quickly tease the return of the levitation spell, making a full return from being just a gag in Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC.

Skywind still doesn’t have a release date and will only launch on PC. The mod will require Skyrim: Special Edition to launch. The team is working on Skyblivion which is a remake of Oblivion in the Creation engine, that mod does not have a release date yet.

Griffin Gilman: Gaming may very well be half of my personality, so it is only natural that I write about them. The best genre is RPGs, while the best game is Nier Automata. That's not an opinion but a matter of facts.
