Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones has managed to survive the purgatory of development its been trapped in for the past half decade. Many players were sure the game would be canceled but here we are, weeks away from release with a beta having been released already as well. Well, it’s not looking great for the future of this title, even before its full launch because the reactions to the beta are very mixed. Adding this to the comments made by Ubisoft CEO a couple days ago, calling the live service title a quadruple-A game, it just looks like it might be an even bigger embarrassment for the company. Many of players have actually said it not all bad of a game, but the $70 price tag is something that almost nobody agrees with. Add to the fact that this month has already had an extremely mixed live service game release in The Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, it feels like it may officially be time for studios to stop striving for live service games.
Skull & Bones is Dull and Boring…
– Shallow Character Customization
– No ACTUAL Pirating on Islands etc
– Basic, Simplistic Combat
– TERRIBLE NPC Dialogue, Voice Acting and NarrativeThis may be Ubisoft’s biggest flop to date.

Now It is important to reiterate that the feelings towards the beta have been mixed, not horrible. Most of the positive reactions have been to the scale of the game and its amount of content, in fact there have been many positive reactions even claiming that the beta has given them full confidence in purchasing the title at launch which is great. But the rest of the reactions either call it dull or horrible. With many players stating that the lack of customization is ridiculous, there is no on-land pirating/hand-to-hand combat, and that the NPCs in the game are lifeless and boring. As for the lack of customization, we have to give it the benefit of the doubt to it being a beta, but for the rest of the problems, there really is no apparent excuse. With the full game releasing on the 16th of this month, it looks very unlikely that Ubisoft will have a hidden ace up their sleeve.
The most Epic Skull & Bones Gameplay. Definitely “Quadrouple A” Content So far 😂 pic.twitter.com/eUkrbLUq69

Ubisoft probably will be looking back at the beginning of the year and wished they had another project like Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown up their sleeve. They have another chance this year to have another potential great title in Star Wars Outlaws but who knows maybe Skull And Bones will have surprising legs.
