Skater XL Launch Trailer Released; Game Out Now

For a few months now, Skater XL devs have been sharing news to fans about Skater XL coming out soon for players to recreate their own versions of tricks. Now the team at Skater XL has released the launch trailer from the PlayStation YouTube channel and the release of the anticipated skateboarding game.

For the new skateboarding game, Skater XL has been designed to be fun for fans in the same way as skateboarding is. The core of it is to be designed more as an expressive and creative tool than the traditional route of video games with a pre-set challenge to be completed. The game is also viewed as unique by not having tricks programmed into it and that only controls the movement through the thumbsticks. The thumbstick is going to be connected to the character’s corresponding foot.

The Director of Marketing at Easy Day Studios, Jeff Goforth, made statement about the control scheme of the gameplay. “There are a range of basic movements, with a ton of freedom in how they are performed. Skater XL uses physics controlled by the sticks to dive all movement in the game, which is a huge shift from traditional ‘canned animation’ based systems which all past skateboarding games have been based upon. Precise movements made through the thumbsticks will make your tricks look and feel different each time, adding a level of expression, personalization, and style to the gameplay. There are so many ways to combine and style the same few tricks, and there are a lot of tricks possible in Skater XL.”

Fans will very much appreciate the result of the gameplay by it being a free-form, sandbox, and creative in nature. Skater XL is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and is also coming to Nintendo Switch soon.
