Silent Hill f is the latest stand-alone title in the Silent Hill horror-game series. Konami, the publisher behind Silent Hill f, has confirmed that the game sold and shipped over a million copies within two days. These sales numbers mark Silent Hill f as one of the most successful launches in the entire series, surpassing the success of the popular Silent Hill 2 remake. Konami and other companies involved in the production of Silent Hill f have since expressed their gratitude at the game’s success.

Silent Hill f was released on September 25th, and Konami has revealed that the game sold over 1 million copies by September 26th. The success of Silent Hill f has exceeded expectations set by previous installations in the series, most notably the Silent Hill 2 remake. The Silent Hill 2 remake was released on October 8th, with Konami announcing that the game had sold 1 million copies on October 11th. In other words, the remake for Silent Hill 2 took nearly twice as long to sell 1 million copies compared to Silent Hill f.

In regards to the successful launch, Konami wrote, “this achievement reinforces the series’ status as an iconic horror franchise that continues to resonate with fans yearning for an unsettling psychological horror experience. Through the lens of Silent Hill f, players dive into a haunting narrative by Ryukishi07 based on a ‘beautiful yet horrifying’ artistic vision.”

Neobards, the developer behind Silent Hill f, also posted about the game’s overwhelming success on X. They thanked players for the achievement, writing “thank you to all players who joined this adventure of psychological horror. We hope you’ve found the beauty in terror in this world set in Japan’s Showa era.”

As mentioned in Neobard’s post, Silent Hill f is set in the Japanese Showa era. Konami’s launch announcement for Silent Hill f further reveals that the game is the first entry in the series to be set in Japan at all. Within the game, fans play through the perspective of Shimzu Hinako, a young female high-school student who is grappling with societal pressures and expectations. After a mysterious and dangerous fog appears in her home town of Ebisugaoka, Hinako is forced to “horrific creatures, uncover mysteries, and confront traumatic decisions that will influence her fate.” 

The game’s successful launch is matched by an equally impressive “Very Positive” review rating on Steam. While the game only released a few days ago, the large number of sales coupled with positive reviews solidifies Silent Hill f as one of the most successful installations in the Silent Hill series.
