Horror is getting another asymmetrical game to add to the list. Soul Walker is a 3v1 horror game where “silence is your only armor” against a blind ancient deity. Trapped in a sound sensitive environment, players can get the attention of the Soul Walker easily with footsteps, dropping items, and the racing heartbeats in their chests.
While the three survivors can certainly choose to work as a team to escape the deity together, it isn’t necessary to win; players can betray one another to ensure their own safety instead.
In order to earn their escape, survivors must work through a series of trials that will test their coordination and nerves. Not only will the landscape itself be a challenge in itself to navigate through, but there are puzzles to be solved to be able to progress. Environmental factors such as broken glass on the floor or operating a piece of machinery, every noise made puts survivors at risk of being discovered. Getting closer to escape does not mean that things will get any easier, much the opposite. New challenges will come up and the only thing players can do is adapt and do their best to execute their plans as perfectly as possible.
Soul Walker includes the very human element of self preservation or teamwork in a life threatening situation. Players can help draw the Walker’s attention away from another survivor or leave them to face their demise to save themselves; this makes for each game played to be a different outcome for everyone.

This originally started as a film I wrote that placed in the 2025 Horror Shorts contest. I had always thought this could be a great game universe so decided to just go for it.
