Last year, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the new PlayStation Plus service which blended PS Now’s cloud streaming and has multiple tiers for players to choose from. There’s PlayStation Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium. Essential includes two monthly downloadable games, exclusive discounts, cloud storage for saved games, and online multiplayer access. Extra adds a catalog of up to 400 PS5 and PS4 games. Premium adds up to 340 additional games including PS3 games available via cloud streaming and a catalog of beloved classic games available in both streaming and download options from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP generations. At the time, PS Plus Essential cost $9.99 monthly, $24.99 quarterly, $59.99 yearly; PS Plus Extra cost $14.99 monthly, $39.99 quarterly, $59.99 yearly; and PS Plus Premium cost $17.99 monthly, $39.99 quarterly, and $99.99 yearly. Today, SIE has announced new pricing changes for the 12-month subscription plans.
The new pricing changes for the 12-month subscriptions will start on September 6 globally across all benefit plans. PlayStation Plus Essential will cost 79.99 USD, 71,99 Euro, 59.99 GBP, and 6,800 Yen. PlayStation Plus Extra will cost $134.99 USD, 125,99 Euro, 99.99 GBP, and 11,700 Yen. PlayStation Plus Premium will cost 159.99 USD, 151,99 Euro, 119,99 GBP, and 13, 900 Yen.
Adam Michel, Director, Content Acquisition & Operations, SIE said “This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service.”
SIE also noted that the new prices will remain at a discounted rate when compared to purchasing the 1-month or 3-month subscriptions over a 12-month period. The price increase will not take effect for current 12-month subscribers until their next renewal date that occurs on or after November 6. Any membership changes that is made on or after September 6, such as upgrades, downgrades or buying additional time, will update your plan reflecting the new prices.
SIE also announced September’s monthly games lineup for PlayStation Plus members. The monthly games lineup includes Siant’s Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero. These will be available to PlayStation Plus members from Tuesday, September 5 until Monday, October 2.
