ShoreTiles Demo and New Trailer Are Out Now

Strategy games usually make special use of the customizable features, letting players build up a strategy over time which the performance of influences how it can be built in the future. In the new demo for ShoreTiles, players will strategize by building up the terrain of their island itself. Developed by Voxel Studios and published by Noovola, the game received a new trailer recently both announcing the Steam demo and showing off various gameplay features.

ShoreTiles follows the development of an island settlement around a lighthouse. During the day, players will build out the terrain in tiles with specialized buildings. These tiles will become permanent fixtures of the world, forcing careful consideration for both short term needs and long terms goals. At night, the island’s defenses will then be put to the test against the monsters coming to invade. The ultimate goal will be to protect the central lighthouse and any additional lighthouses built during the playthrough, which are the only things capable of keeping back the fog that the monsters come out of.

The trailer also shows off special events that will take place on certain days to add context to events or change how things work. While expanding deeper into the fog, players will uncover resources and new buildings that will allow them to expand further and connect islands together. This also comes with a warning from the game’s Steam page that as players uncover more powerful and versatile tools for their island, they will also uncover more terrible creatures in the fog.

The demo trailer ends with an extended shot on the lighthouse, the heart of the defense, while a monster looms in the distance. Oftentimes the success of new strategy games comes from the ways in which players may creatively express themselves while receiving adequate resistance from the title. The new demo for ShoreTiles will offer a preview of the strategic experience while preparing for the game’s release in the fall.
