Shin Megami Tensei V Delisting On Nintendo eShop

On June 13th, 2024, Shin Megami Tensei V Digital Standard (2021), along with its deluxe counterpart and any associated DLC, will be delisted from the Nintendo eShop.

As shown above in the X post by Atlus, players who already own Shin Megami Tensei V or any of the aforementioned files above will still be able to play the game or download the game files. This also applies for any physical copies of the game.

Shin Megami Tensei V, aptly named, is a part of the Shin Megami Tensei series by Japanese company Atlus. Atlus is also known for developing the Persona series. Shin Megami Tensei V was nominated for Best Role Playing Game in the 2021 Game Awards. It is currently listed on the official Nintendo site for $59.99 USD.

It is speculated that this delisting on the Nintendo site could be due to the release of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (2024), which will be released on the same date that the Digital Standard versions and all of its associated content will be delisted. On the official Steam page of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the summary claims that the game is a:

“definitive version of the critically acclaimed Shin Megami Tensei V, massively expanded with a brand new storyline featuring new locations, demons, and choices to make that will dictate the fate of all existence.”

The Steam version of the game will be published by SEGA. The base game retails for $59.99 USD, identical to its future delisted counterpart, while a deluxe edition is listed for $69.99 USD. The deluxe edition contains three DLC contents plus two “demon” subquests. The game has full controller support for Xbox controllers and PlayStation controllers. Vengeance is multiplatform, while the original 2021 Digital Standard version was designed to be Switch exclusive.
