Shadowrun Online Coming to Steam Early Access on March 31

Cliffhanger Productions has announced the Kickstarter-funded Shadowrun Online for Steam Early Access release on March 31st. The game involves MMO mixed with magic and technology. Shadowrun Online will launch on PC, Mac, Linux and mobile devices. It will begin by offering up core combat mechanics, and adding other modes, abilities and more every month leading up to the first campaign, Shadowrun Online: Lockdown.

Shadowrun Online was successful with their Kickstarter campaign back in August 2012, which $558,863 was raised.

“We are very excited (and a little frightened) to finally show this first glimpse of the game to the world,” said Cliffhanger Productions co-founder Jan Wagner. “We don’t want to pile on features unless we have nailed the core gameplay elements, so we created this small and polished section for our players to enjoy.”

This Early Access will only be a prequel campaign to the full campaign Shadowrun Online: Lockdown, which will cost $29.99. Shadowrun Online will feature a PvP map, two characters, four missions, and basic skills.

Shadowrun is set in the 2070’s, a world where magic meets technology and a place filled with biotech’s, cyberpunks, and cybernetics, and where megacorporations are independent states. The magic that is brought into Shadowrun awakens ancient races like Orcs, Dwarves, Trolls, and Elves and dragons, who all use their treasures to run the worlds megacorporations. You need to use the technology to your advantage, because it will make you stronger, faster and smarter.

There are people called Shadowrunners, they are the one’s that don’t follow laws and are the survivors in this urban megacorporation filled world, they will get the job done for you. Shadowrunners, are hackers, riggers, combat mages, and street samurai’s. It is your job to run the shadows, to infiltrate hidden labs, going on adventures, fighting to get that secret magic formula, sabotaging the system, or even spying on the ones doing crime.
