Square Enix creators involved in Octopath, Final Fantasy, SaGa, Dragon Quest, and Bravely Default recently shared their ambitions for 2022 in Famitsu and 4Gamer’s individual annual creator interviews. As per their annual tradition, Famitsu recently published an article that included their massive end-of-the-year interview that featured 127 Japanese game creators from different video game companies. Several Square Enix creators were among those who were interviewed, where they shared their ambitions and plans for 2022. According to the interview translated by Gematsu, here’s what these creators have in store for the future:
Tomoya Asano, developer for Octopath Traveler:
“First off, Triangle Strategy will release on March 4. Other new titles are also in development. Please look forward to them…!”
Akitoshi Kawazu: creator and director of SaGa series:
“I’ve been making preparations for a long time, and I want 2022 to be the year that it takes form.”
Yoshinori Kitase, director for Final Fantasy series:
“I’d like to take extra care of many popular series including Final Fantasy, SaGa, Star Ocean and Chocobo.”
Square Enix creators were also featured in 4Gamer’s end-of-the-year article that included interviews with 147 Japanese creators. In 4Gamer’s interview, which was also translated by Gematsu, they shared some information regarding their 2022 ambitions:
Takashi Anzai, chief planner for Dragon Quest X:
“Dragon Quest X will celebrate its 10th anniversary in summer 2022. We’re planning to do a lot, so please look forward to it.”
Akitoshi Kawazu, creator and director of SaGa series:
“We’re planning various things that SaGa fans will enjoy next year as well. Please look forward to them.”
Yoshinori Kitase, director for Final Fantasy series:
“The world of Final Fantasy VII restarted with Final Fantasy VII Remake will expand more and more in 2022. First off, the RPG/battle royal hybrid Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is currently in service. Please enjoy the battle as a SOLDIER candidate!”
Masashi Takahashi, producer for Bravely Default series:
“First off, please look forward to Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights and Triangle Strategy, which are coming soon! Other than that, there are various announcements we’ll be able to make in 2022, so please keep your ears open!”
