There’s no denying the fact that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one of the best games in recent memory. The title won the prestigious Game of the Year Award at The Game Awards in 2019, and picked up other “Best of” accolades at the end of the year. From Software and Activision had a massive hit on their hands, and this new tidbit of information only reaffirms that. Activision has announced that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has now officially shipped more than 5 million units around the world, an impressive feat considering that the game has been out for a little more than a year.

In addition to this, Activision has also revealed that the game will be getting a free update that includes three new features. The first will be two Boss Rush Modes, just in case fighting all of those harrowing battles in the main game wasn’t enough. In the Reflection of Strength mode, you can fight whichever boss individually, while the Gauntlet of Strength mode has you taking every single boss from the game consecutively until either you succeed, or fail.
The second feature is three new costumes for Sekiro to wear in the game. The first two, Old Ashina Shinobi and Tengu, can be obtained by completing the aforementioned gauntlet modes, while the third one is only given by finishing the game. Lastly, the update will also contain a new mechanic called Remnant, which is essentially an upgraded feature from another From Software series, Dark Souls. You’ll be able to send 30 second messages of gameplay that contains hints, and strategies to other players and vice versa.
The update will come to all versions of the game later this year on October 29. This is also the exact same day that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will launch on Google’s cloud-based gaming service, Stadia. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
