SEGA Revivals Gameplay Leaks On X

SEGA’s plans to revive some legacy titles for modern audience. The final decided upon roster for this revival is Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage. Four of the five were originally arcade games, Jet Set Radio being the odd one out, but all were released by 2000. All eventually made the jump to home consoles, once again barring Jet Set Radio which didn’t have to. The reveal of these remakes, re-releases, or revivals was only announced last December but gameplay leaks have already started cropping up on X

First up is the leak of Crazy Taxi gameplay. According to the tweet, the thirty three second clip is from 2022, meaning it probably isn’t the best reference for where the game is development wise, at this time. What it can do is probably give fans an idea of where the game might be heading when it finally gets announced. The racing game’s unique mode of scoring – playing for as long as possible by ferrying as many people as possible around town to keep the timer above zero – means that finding ways to climb the ranks of any particular game might be challenging. Different passengers require different destinations, pay different fares, and have their own different time frame based on how much time they can spend in transit. Overall the game seems to offer an exciting revisit for classic Sega fans.

Similarly, leaks surfaced for the upcoming Shinobi installment. Unlike the first leaks, these featured gameplay and cutscene content. The cutscene in question seemed to be related to the opening movie and title sequence. The rest of the short video had a small gameplay segment, showcasing the game’s side scrolling nature and beautiful art style. This one did not come with an attached date, so while it might be easy to speculate it as being from 2022 as well, we can’t know for sure. The gameplay seems smooth and relatively quick as players traverse the levels. When this game is revealed we’ll just have to wait and see.
