SEGA FES, the annual SEGA gaming event in Japan, started on April 14 in the morning hours local time, and is planned to run until April 15. SEGA Europe built up hype for the event by stating that there would be a huge announcement that fans would not want to miss. Now that the announcements have just been revealed over on Twitch, it turns out that the biggest reveal was a tried and true port of Shenmue I & II is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The re-release of Shenmue I & II was brought on by the overwhelming amount of fans that have supported Shenmue since its early days from 1999. The re-release of Shenmue I & II will be carefully handled in order to deliver the full, authentic experience to new and old generation fans of the series alike. This re-release also comes at the perfect time, for Shenmue III is making strides in its development, and this port will be perfect to help gamers relive or catch up with the Shenmue trilogy. This announcement comes as a great relief, for back in January, the rumored HD ports were reportedly pushed back to an indefinite date. Now that these ports are confirmed to be coming out this year, Shenmue fans can now rest easy.
Among other announcements at the SEGA FES 2018 stream, it was shown that Sega Ages would be hitting the Nintendo Switch store later in 2018. Sega Ages will be an all-in-one gaming bundle that will include classic SEGA titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Force IV, Phantasy Star, and more. To commemorate all things old school for SEGA, the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive mini was official announced. This console will function similarly to the likes of the NES and SNES classic with the mini console will come packed with the top games from the 16-bit console. The mini console will also be available later in 2018. Last off, there was a small announcement for a new, upcoming Sakura Wars project.
