A couple days ago, developers from Ocean Drive Studio Inc. and publishers Kakao Games have officially launched Section 13 just last week on May 26th. The trailer was released the day the game launched and is now available on PC through Steam, along with being available on Xbox X/S Series, and the PlayStation 5. Currently on Steam, the game is 15% off its original price and is $16.99. Players who are interested can still try out the free demo.
The launch trailer shows the gameplay where the player will shoot and defeat various zombie creatures. The player will play as Agent Red, an agent part of the S2P Corporation, who is investigating a crisis at a top-secret facility. Along with her was a team consisting of Boy Scout, Beaker, and Scalpel, who were tasked to find out the secrets within the facility.
Section 13, as stated in the description of the Steam page, “is a roguelite twin-stick shooter” that can either be played as a single-player experience, or players can invite up to 3 friends to play with- crossplay is not supported as of now. Players will be able to learn more about the characters’ story as they progress through the facility, as well as solve personal mysteries.
There will be an option for friendly fire when playing with friends. The description on the Steam page says, “it’s up to you whether you’d like a more forgiving experience, or chaotic fun with mad-science weapons.”
The gameplay consists of hazards, and it is up to the player and their optional team to overcome them quickly. There will be special abilities for players to acquire throughout their journey as well as a variety of different customizable weapons to collect and use against the zombie creatures. However, there is a Fear level that players must keep an eye on, or they could risk having a panic attack in the middle of the fight. Lastly, players will be able to unlock upgrades between deaths that changes how the player plays and alters the chance of success.
