Switchblade Monkeys released an update for their published and developed isometric PvP Arena Shooter, Secret Ponchos. The Update, titled “The Matador’s Moment,” brings new modes, a new character, and a new map to the Early Access PC game. A trailer was released alongside the update, showcasing gameplay footage of the new character, The Matador, from the update. This trailer can be found at the bottom of the page.
The Matador is the namesake of the update. She is aptly dressed in red and black matador garb. The Matador brandishes a sabre, and her attacks are melee based. To make up for having a melee weapon in a predominately shooting centric game, The Matador has agility on the right of the bell curve, with a dash ability to hone in on other combatants.
“The Matador’s Moment” expands the Domination game mode to include a four-on-four variant. Another update to the game’s modes is an alternate way to play Deathmatch. Deathmatch now includes a “last outlaw standing” variant, where players must take caution, because, in this variant, there are no respawns after death.
Along with these modes is a fresh map, The Ranch. The Ranch is set in the ruin and debris of Kid Red’s house. Official keyboard and mouse support has also been added to Secret Ponchos, with the update.
In celebration of the major update for their game, Switchblade Monkeys reduced the price for Secret Ponchos. The original price was at $14.99, while the current sale of 40% off brings it down to $8.99. The Double Down promotion’s deadline extended until Aug. 18. This promotion gives an extra Steam code to give (or keep) to anyone who purchases the Early Access build of the game. Switchblade Monkeys also hosted a Twitch stream of matches from the game yesterday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
More information can be found at the game’s website. Those interested in playing the game can visit the Steam page. PS4 owners will be able to play the game when it is released, TBA.
