During PlayStation’s 2025 State of Play, the gameplay and date reveal of the new FNAF game, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, was among the many teasers shown throughout the livestream. The new game by Steel Wool Studios is set to release on June 13th, 2025 on PlayStation, and players are able to preorder it now. Players who have PlayStation Plus accounts will be able to purchase the game at $35.99, while those without it will pay $39.99. Secret of the Mimic is also set to release on PC as well, according to Gematsu.

The trailer showcases the new gameplay as well as the cast of animatronic characters that player will be able to see when the game releases. The PlayStation reads, “Prepare for heart-pounding thrills as you explore the labyrinth of the deserted Costume Manor, discovering remnants of Edwin’s unfinished work and eluding the monster he’s created.” Players will solve puzzles as they make their way through the labyrinth, but they will have to defend themselves against the animatronics, specifically The Mimic. Players will see some returning faces such as DJ Music Man from Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.

The spokesperson that narrates throughout the trailer speaks to the player about the current situation at hand. He explains that Edwin Murray, one of the contractors, has gone missing and left their property abandoned in his warehouse. The task at hand is for the player to retrieve the technology that he was developing for them, which is a prototype endoskeleton that can adapt to any costume, transform into any character, or what the main character may fear most.

The PlayStation page also has this to say about the game’s story, “Armed with only your wits, a few gadgets, and a heavily redacted corporate briefing, you’ll attempt to retrieve Fazbear’s prized prototype technology while grappling with cryptic clues and a relentless shadow determined to dispatch all unwanted company.”
