Wizards of the Coast has shared the next Secret Lair set going on sale starting tomorrow, September 2. This set is rather unique, which says a lot considering the different sets that have been released. Secret Lair x MSCHF: The Zeta Set brings in cards that were inspired by some of the early cards that reached store shelves, printed on paper, and used for playtesting back in 1992.

Secret Lair x MSCHF: The Zeta Set is created in collaboration with MSCHF. It uses public domain imagery, original photography from MSCHF, and photocopied visual treatment to echo the handmade look of the early Magic playtest materials. The art is directed by Jacob Covey in partnership with MSCHF. This particular approach to the cards will be used across 121 Magic cards, ranging from early Magic classics to modern Commander favorites.

Secret Lair x MSCHF: The Zeta Set will include three new visual treatments: Photocopy, Photocopy Negative, and Color Banding. Photocopy uses a back-and-white photocopy look. Negative inverts that look. Color Banding adds CMYK distortion inspired by common printer misalignment.

“MSCHF has a gift for smuggling ideas into culture through the side door, which made them the obvious partner for a project built on Magic’s scrappiest, most DIY chapter, the earliest playtest cards,” said Matthew Hodgins, Director of Secret Lair “We were excited to work with them to create something that honors that early part of Magic’s history while still feeling unmistakably shaped by MSCHF.”

Secret Lair x MSCHF: The Zeta Set will go on sale at 9 am PT on September 2, 2026, through the Chaos Vault for $19.92, which is an homage to the year before Magic’s official release year, while suuplies last. It’s limited to 12 per customer.
