CodeV has launched a new Kickstarter campaign towards the development of their fantastical visual novel project titled Silver:Line. The game launched its campaign on Agust 2nd with a goal of reaching $5,927. At the time of posting, the project has now reached over $7,900. Over 130% funded in just under a week. The campaign will continue to work towards earning its stretch goals and is expected to come to a close on August 27th, 2019.

Though the team had attempted a previous campaign earlier this year, they have since announced some re-adjustments to both their pledge goal and production towards the project. One of these adjustments included pushing back the estimated release date. While their previous Kickstarter page planned to deliver the game by next year, in order to accommodate for changes and ensure a promising and worthwhile experience for their audiences, fans will need to be a bit more patient.
Though our first Kickstarter was unsuccessful, we have learned a lot. After some adjustments on our goal, we managed to adjust the productions of Silver:Line quite a bit. ! Our 1st campaign promised to deliver by September 2020 but with our new goal, Silver:Line will take a longer time to develop, so we will have to delay the game’s release until November 2021/February 2022.
Considering the project has already reached its initial goal, and is now working towards additional stretch goals, it seems that the team has already been met with tremendous support.
Silver:Line drops you into a world where your decisions can have significant effects on your relationships, as well as the overall outcome of the story. “Unlike in most stories where you play as the main hero, here, you are part of the supporting cast in everyone else’s stories.” In the realm of Lucarene, players discover they have been recruited as an imperial scholar for the crown family. Life is simple and you go about your days researching and recording everything that goes on in the city. But your life is suddenly thrown into chaos. After you’re accused of a crime and forced to abandon your home, you encounter a group of dynamic characters: a knight (your childhood friend), a mysterious assassin, a merchant, a demi-human, and more. Will you ever be able to clear your name? And what new adventures await you?
For those interested in trying out the game’s demo, you can now download and preview over an hour of playable gameplay from the team’s itch.io page. Dedicated players could also spend up to two hours from testing out every available choice option in the game. The demo is currently playable on Windows and macOS. Characters in the demo will be voice acted, however, as of right now, the full version of the project will only be partially voiced. If the campaign continues to do well, the team may be able to include more voice scenes or even complete the final product fully voice acted.
Other stretch goals mentioned for the project include unlocking new characters, additional romantic routes, an earlier release date, as well as a possible launch for the Nintendo Switch and Android devices. The CodeV team has multiple rewards for their backers including digital game keys, character creation, artbooks, and even beta access. All backers, however, will receive a very special “stand-alone backstory game” which elaborates more on the story behind how the player came to know their close friend Lucas.
