A host of downloadable content was announced for 2k Games’s WWE 2k17 . Much like the rest of the sports games market, there used to be a host of wrestling games on the market but that well has all but dried up. Now, for better or for worse, your only option is the WWE 2k series. You can purchase the upcoming DLC either separately, or for much cheaper as a season pass.
The season pass will cost $29.99 which gets you all the downloadable content for up to a year. As of now, that includes the Accelerator, Future Stars Pack, Hall of Fame Showcase, Legends Pack, MyPlayer Kick Start, New Moves Pack, and NXT Enhancement Pack.
The Accelerator pack for $4.99 will provide instance accessibility to all content from WWE 2k17’s VC purchasable section. The Future Stars Pack will include Austin Aries, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Mojo Rawley, and Tye Dillinger and will cost $8.99. The ability to access some pretty large acts in Austin Aries, Gallows and Anderson is enticing.
With the Hall of Fame Showcase, you can relive some famous matches with the proper build up. Those fights are:
- Cactus Jack & Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy Garvin & Michael “P.S.” Hayes) (WCW Saturday Night 1992)
- The Fabulous Freebirds (Buddy Roberts & Michael “P.S.” Hayes) vs. Kerry & Kevin Von Erich (WCCW 1986)

- Sting (gold and black tights) vs. Ric Flair (Clash of Champions 1988)
- Sting (n.W.o. Wolfpac ring gear) vs. Bret Hart (WCW Halloween Havoc 1998)
- Papa Shango vs. The Godfather (Dream Match)
- Big Boss Man (with Albert) vs. Big Show (Armageddon 1999)
The Legends pack is one that is sure to draw in the true wrestling fans. With a price tag of $8.99, you gain access to Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, Eddie Guerrero, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Sycho Sid and Tatanka. The fact that Eddie Guerrero is only DLC and not included into the main game is a let down. Many current and past superstars owe Guerrero for their inspiration to become wrestlers, such as the incredibly popular Daniel Bryan and Sasha Banks.
With the MyPlayer Kick Start, only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $9.99, players can control their rankings. For a measly $3.99, you can access some new moves in the aptly named New Moves Pack.
Probably one of the best packages but for a steep price is the NXT Enhancement Package, which comes at $9.99. This must have been done post some of the NXT callups, as it includes Apollo Crews, Nia Jax, and the legendary Shinsuke Nakamura. For those who still follow Monday Night Raw and Smackdown, Apollo Crews and Nia Jax are no longer apart of NXT. However, Shinsuke Nakamura is the current reigning champ on NXT and ranks among the greatest active wrestlers in the world.
It seems that if you would want a few of these packs, the best method would be to simply purchase the season pass and call it a day.
