One of the best indicators of a game’s longevity is the support it receives following its release. This is especially true in the case of new content. Since its release in April, Saros has been receiving these updates to add new quality-of-life and gameplay features to improve the experience of players. In today’s State of Play presentation, gameplay details were revealed for the upcoming Zenith update, promising new modes, accessibility options, and postgame content to be base Saros experience.
The developers of Saros, Housemarque games, claim that the new update makes a big push to enhance the replay value of the game, letting knew players play longer and giving those who have completed the game a reason to return. The first mode to encourage this is the new Overlord Rush mode. In it, players will be forced to face off against each of the Overlord bosses from the main story one after the other with the weapons of their choosing. To get the best results, players are encouraged to complete the mode as quickly as possible as a way to compete with other players worldwide.
After completing the game, player will also have the choice to play the new Eclipse Layers mode. As the name suggests, it will take players through a series of layers each meant to test the player at their peak. The new mode will also expand that toolset by giving new progression and secrets spread throughout each layer. The difficulty is also customizable, allowing players to start on higher layers by adding trail modifiers of their choosing meant to make the playthrough more difficult. Finally, the update introduces a slow feature to help with accessibility.
Given the success of Saros already, it is no surprise that more content is continuing to release for the game. The Zenith update will be freely available later this year.
