mxdwn was able to attend the Nintendo Switch 2 preview night for the games Splatoon Raiders and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort on July 22, 2026.
Splatoon Raiders is an artistic centered game where The Mechanic, Shiver and Frye fight against Salmonids. The main moves done are shooting with ZR, ZL to turn into a squid, reversing the camera and using special moves. One specific level requires fighting scrappers, which are slimy creatures with eyes coming out of their socket to collect orange eggs- which is called the Chowda Buried Raids.
The Mechanic held several different outfits, from a casual outfit with sandals to all-black attire. The different gear used includes a paint roller that destroys the Salmonids in a unique way by smashing them with paint. Splatoon Raiders will be releasing July 23, 2026.
Nintendo allowed guests to play Bowling, Jet Skis, Archery, and Thumb War games for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. The Jet Skis had players hold the joy-sticks in a horizontal position as if riding an actual jet ski! The setting even comes with an ultra-speed sensor by ramping up the controller on the right-hand side. Archery is another one of the games players got to play, where the player has to face the joy-stick with ZL and ZR and release depending on what the player’s dominant hand is.
The thumb war is a multiplayer game that turns a childhood game into a competition. Bowling was the final game accessed during the preview night that allows a player to play with one hand and press the ZR button. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will be available to play on October 22.
