Rumors Swell Around New Amazon Console

In the last few years Amazon has pushed themselves forward; far beyond the reaches of the online marketplace. They’ve moved into original content development and now they may be heading into the video game console arena.

Game Informer is reporting that Amazon has plans to release an Android driven console by the end of 2013. Amazon has been making waves with the development of their own productivity apps or game apps over the past year and they have been working proactively in creating new content for their e-reader/tablet, The Kindle Fire.

According to the article, they contacted a representative from Amazon who refused to “comment on speculation and rumor.” This shouldn’t mean an end to the rumors as details have come to surface in regards to the new console including a specific and fully functional controller.

Despite the competition Amazon will already face from console giants like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft; Amazon will also be up against the announcement of a new console from Google. However, Amazon has a leg up as it already has a number of console-ready titles at their disposal from their own creative division.

More Details as they come.
