As part of our slow discovery to find out what the NX is, we now have some new information about a possible launch title. As tweeted by Dr. Serken Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based game industry consultancy kantangames.co.jp, it looks like Bandai-Namco games is developing several titles for the NX, one of the launch titles being a Smash Bros. Game. Dr. Serken Toto could not confirm if it is an entirely new game in the series or a port of Smash Bros. for Wii U, but he confirms that the source is solid. Dr. Toto said he wouldn’t have tweeted this information if the source wasn’t reliable.
To follow up on my last tweet: I haven't heard if it's a completely new (numbered) Smash Bros or not. Otherwise, source situation is solid.

Everything at this point is just speculation, but it’s most likely a port of Smash Bros. for Wii U. Perhaps the NX version will have more features than the Wii U version, similar to the difference between the Wii U and 3DS version of the game. It’s unlikely that this new title would be an entirely new Smash Bros. game considering that a Smash Bros. game is something that has years of development and hype behind it. If it is the port, this brings up the possibility of cross-play between the NX, Wii U, and even 3DS. Even though Nintendo hasn’t had the most success with the Wii U, cross-play between the NX could spark some new life into the console. Launching with a Smash Bros. game would be a smart move by Nintendo considering that the franchise has always been a system seller.
