It looks like we’re going to be getting our hands on Rogue Legacy 2 much earlier than we anticipated. Cellar Door Games has announced that their upcoming rogue-like title will be launching for Early Access next month on July 23 for PC. The game will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, although no pricing for the Early Access content has been revealed. In addition, the studio also dropped a brand new gameplay trailer, which showcases new characters, new mechanics, and that trademark art style that fans have come to know and love.
The trailer introduces some of the new main protagonists of the game, each with their own unique traits and abilities. They’re even given cool titles such as Lady Jane The Rapid Volley Ranger and Sir Jowb The Axe Bearing Barbarian. Speaking of unique, this is also the first time every character in the game will have their own weapon, as opposed to the original where everyone used a sword and nothing else. On top of that, the signature art style has also been improved upon, using pseudo-3D characters against the backdrop hand-drawn backdrops.
Since it will be in Early Access, Rogue Legacy 2 will have four of the promised 12 character classes available to play as well as each one having 35 traits, 25 skills that you can upgrade, 5 equipment sets along with 25 pieces of equipment, and 10 runes. The game will also have 12 enemies and just one boss for starters, with more on the way as the game goes through more development. Cellar Door Games expects the game to be in Early Access for approximately one year, meaning the game will be fully released sometime in 2021.
