Rogue Carrier, a Roguelite Colony Management Game, Has Been Announced for PC

In the case of most games that see players exploring an alien world and starting a colony there, players will control a single character or command an outpost that expands over time. The upcoming roguelite game, Rogue Carrier, is adding variety to this formula by setting itself on an alien world with massive carrier as both the player-controlled vehicle and the main base of operations. Developed by Wild Fields and published by Hooded Horse, the game was announced today alongside a trailer showcasing some of the options available to the sea vessel.

The beginning of the trailer shows off the player’s vessel fighting off monsters with a variety of weaponry and encountering unique islands in short clips before introducing the setting. Rogue Carrier will take place on the hostile alien world of Keeling-IV from onboard the Behemoth, which lives up to its name as a large red carrier with a large number of customization options. According to the Steam store page, these options range from new factories, mining tools, and defensive equipment, which players will need to balance in order to ensure they are protected while also advancing their exploration.

The trailer reveals that the player’s main goal throughout the game will be to research and explore, charting courses from the ship to avoid rock formations and encounter new territory. To explore the islands, rather than steeping on them by foot, players will be able to send out different kinds of flying drones that can explore or gather resources before returning. There are also a number of threats that players will need to survive, such as storms and sea monsters as large as the Behemoth itself.

Each playthrough of the game is intended to be both unique and bring the player closer to the mystery of the world they are exploring. Rogue Carrier is coming soon to PC.
