Rocksteady’s new Batman: Arkham Knight details have emerged, via the new issue of Game Informer magazine.
The final game from Rocksteady in the Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Knight, will be released on October 14th on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
The game will feature the Batmobile and the city that is ‘5 times larger’ than Arkham City. When you play as Batman, you don’t just think about flying and using the gadgets, but also want to be able to experience the Batmobile in a bigger city. There will be more space in between buildings to make it “traffic-friendly” to drive the Batmobile but also more fun to fly around. The Batmobile is also bulletproof, and will allow you to smash into barricades, trees, and the corner of buildings. There will be larger riots in the game with up to 50 characters destroying things.
A year later has passed, the Joker is dead, which has decreased the crime but now Batman’s foes Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin and others in Arkham Knight have banded together to distract the Dark Knight’s attention away from the riots destroying the city. During the time there was no crime, it gave Batman more time to create tech that helps with fighting crime, both upgrades and also some tech that returns like the line launcher, which gives Batman perch points or create instant ziplines while flying around. Also Batman still has detective vision. There will be no multiplayer, which allows the single player only game to not only include an arch-rival named “Arkham Knight”, created by Rocksteady and DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns, but also focus on the best experience for single player. There will be a pre-order bonus content that includes four challenge maps.
Kevin Conroy will return to voice Batman, Nolan North will be voicing Penguin, Wally Wingert will be doing Riddler, Tara Strong comes back as Harley Quinn and Troy Baker will be Two-Face again.
Game Informer says Rocksteady isn’t saying what’s next but “it’s most definitely not Batman related.”
