After a mixed reception to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game in January 2024 and after nearly a decade since releasing their last release of the Batman Arkham trilogy, a rumor has surfaced that Rocksteady Studios is working on a new Batman game. This rumor comes from Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker, co-founder of Xbox Era.
Not sure which studio people’s dream is, but I heard Rocksteady are back making it. I also think Sony are trying to moneyhat it lol https://t.co/EfcyRKWdZI

While the Batman Arkham series was critically acclaimed and gave the studio its largest success in the studio’s history. The same however, can’t be said for their Suicide Squad project which saw a major loss of around $200 million. The low sales also became a major proponent for why Rocksteady laid off over half of their team following the games release.
Along with the rumor that Rocksteady are working on the game, Sony have been said to be attempting to “moneyhat” the project, making it a PlayStation exclusive. The original trilogy along with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and the Warner Bros. and QLOC developed Gotham Knights were never a console exclusive games. However, in 2015, Sony did buy the marketing rights to Batman Arkham Knight. They also released DLC for PS4 players which included Scarecrow challenges and exclusive skins. Sony also dropped a limited edition console for the release of the game.
Rocksteady, Warner Bros., and Sony have not commented on the rumors just yet. There is also no hard evidence to back up the claims made by Mr. Baker. After 15 years since the initial release of the first game in the trilogy, Batman Arkham Asylum, a new Batman game from original developers has the potential to excite fans of the original series.
