Rocksteady Reportedly Had Another Round Of Layoffs Towards The End Of 2024

Following the rough launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, developer Rocksteady joined the long list of developers impacted by layoffs. In September, QA was one of the major departments hit during that round of layoffs. Unfortunately, it was not the only round that Rocksteady dealt with. Eurogamer is reporting that the developers quietly suffered another round of layoffs just before the end of 2024.

Eurogamer has spoken to half a dozen staff impacted by the redundancies to confirm the job losses, under the condition of anonymity to protect their careers. Staff members impacted by the layoffs were part of Rocksteady’s Programming and Artist teams and included more QA staff.

There were also job losses from Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights developer Warner Bros. Games Montreal. 99 jobs were reportedly eliminated, the majority of which were believed to have been supporting Rocksteady with additional content for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Warner Bros. was contacted for comment on this latest round of layoffs, but no response has been released. Warner Bros. didn’t publically acknowledge the first round of layoffs in September, either.

Warner Bros. said that it lost around $200 million. As of now, it’s unclear what Rocksteady is working on next but there were rumors that they are working on new Batman game.

Last month, following the rough launch and poor reception, Rocksteady announced that they are ceasing all post-launch content for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League following the game’s final update which releases next week on January 14, 2025. The game is now part of the PS Plus Monthly Games January lineup.
