Rocksteady Gives Update For Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League With Video Series

We got a sneak preview over 8 months since last seeing anything released by Rocksteady to one of 2024’s most divisive titles, Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League. The game is looking to be a very confusing launch as Rocksteady being known for their Iconic single-player Batman titles, is switching to a co-op live service game with Suicide Squad. From the first trailer, fans have been divided on whether or not the game will be worth purchasing on day one considering the climate of the current games industry. That being the obsession with releasing half-baked titles obsessed with microtransactions and live service methods. Join us in prayer, as we hope a battle royale mode is never announced.

On YouTube, Rocksteady released their first episode of many of Suicide Squad Insider, a dev diary series that will be releasing in increments leading up to their launch on February 2nd, 2024. In the 20-minute showcase we were shown gameplay of the early game, with The Suicide Squad members Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark breaking out into the hall of justice and stealing some much-needed equipment to aid them in their battle against the Justice League and Brainiac. While the gameplay looks smooth there is still much concern from players regarding UI and overall progression. Graphically the game looks to be gorgeous, especially the new look we got at Metropolis. It seems they put a lot of time and effort into the creation of one of DC’s most iconic cities, which leads me to believe that Rocksteady really wanted to make a Single-player Superman game instead.

Much of the video focused on the game’s traversal systems for all four initial playable characters. I say initial because it has been previously confirmed that the game will have a lot of post-launch content including new playable characters, bosses, and a morphing Metropolis reacting to new threats. The voice cast is supremely talented as in the few moments we’ve had with Justice League and Suicide Squad members, they sound phenomenal. At the very least the game appears to have captured the charm and wit from the Suicide Squad characters that we’ve come to know and love. One final announcement was a microtransaction, surprised? For Pre-Ordering players will be granted the classic skins pack for our four members. A digital deluxe edition was also announced with new cosmetics as well. There is still hope that Rocksteady delivers another incredible gameplay experience but there’s no doubt that fans don’t seem as confident as before as more and more companies adopt today’s game-developing formulas.
