Rocket League For The Switch Is Getting Visual Updates This Spring

Psyonix announced to Rocket League players today that the game’s Nintendo Switch version will be receiving visual improvements this spring. Currently, Rocket League for the Switch’s maximum resolution is 720p in both its docked and handheld modes, with its dynamic resolution being 576p. These improvements will boost the game’s resolution to 900p while docked and 720p in handheld mode.

More importantly, both modes will run at 60 frames per second “with infrequent dynamic resolution scaling.” These updates are set to be applied in either March or April. The developer has all its plans outlined within a development roadmap. They include new licensed premium downloadable content, the start of a new competitive season next month, and the introduction of new tournaments sometime in the spring.

Other plans that will arrive beyond the spring updates include new arenas and a feature that will allow players to host cross-platform parties for chat and matchmaking for any platforms that are willing to participate. This excludes PlayStation, as they are still not showing interest in any cross-platform play with any other consoles for Rocket League.

Psyonix also has plans to add support for the Xbox One X later this year. The studio had initially announced this back at E3 2017, but no exact window was given at the time. The developer now has a set plan to bring forth support for the new console towards the end of the year. Psyonix has quite a bit drawn out for this roadmap and it seems that Rocket League players have all the more to look forward too.
