Roblox and Genshin Impact are Highest Grossing Mobile Games of the 2021 First Quarter

Everyone that knows anything about mobile games, and actually even the people that do not know anything about mobile games, are familiar with the game Roblox. Well, Roblox and the role-playing experience game known as Genshin Impact were the two top-earning games in the iOS App Store and Google Play in the first quarter of 2021. This information is from App Annie’s latest report on gaming. Roblox and Genshin Impact were ranked first and second in highest-grossing mobile games, followed by Coin Master and Pokémon Go in third and fourth place. And it is also notable that Candy Crush Saga was also on the top ten list, it was the only game that made the top ten that does not have features for social interaction in the gaming experience.

Roblox is created by the Roblox Corporation which is United States-based, and Genshin Impact is made by the Chinese game developer miHoYo. Both games exhibit online features that allow players to socially interact with other players, even though it is a virtual game. This is important to note because this social aspect of a world full of shy introverts yearning for comfortable social interactions could be part of the reason both games earned so much revenue.

The pandemic has had a huge effect on mobile gaming. For example, there has been an increase in downloads of mobile games by 30 percent, and there are no signs of slowing.

What does this mean for mobile games? It means that they are continuing to extend a lead in popularity over all other gaming platforms. Video Game elitists used to tisk at mobile games, but mobile games have come such a long way, and they are making it clear through their accessibility, variety, and overall experience that they are here to stay.
