The tenth annual Rocket League World Championships (RLCS) wrapped up this past Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas. This year’s event, spanning six days from September fifteenth through twentieth, made esports history as the most viewed competitive Rocket League tournament ever. Additionally, Team Falcon took their first RLCS trophy against Spacestation Gaming, marking the first world championship victory for the Middle East and Africa.
704,208 viewers tuned in across four different streaming platforms to watch the championship match on September twentieth, not including thousands of fans who were able to witness the remarkable win in-person. The entire championship festival was livestreamed on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok Live, and Kik, relying heavily on official co streamers to hype up current fans an recruit new ones. Team Falcon has been competing in the Rocket League World Championships since 2021, though the roster has been switched up since then. This year’s championship winning team consists of brothers Rw9 and Kiileerrz, who competed alongside dralii. Rw9 and Kiileerrz are actually nineteen-year-old identical twins, having been born in 2007 Saudi Arabia. Dralii is considered to be a ‘prodigy,’ representing his second Rocket League win for Morocco. Both of the twins took home individual awards at the end of the championships, with Rw9 earning the title of Grand Finals MVP for his role in the winning 4-0 score, and Kiileerrz being named overall MVP for his performance throughout the entire festival.
