During Tripwire’s PAX West panel today, the developer announced their next big update for Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. The working title for the update is currently known as ANZAC and it is currently in development with alpha and beta testing supposedly coming this fall. The new update will bring about a brand new faction, the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps. ANZAC will also include a bunch of all new weapons such as the L1A1 SLR a “derivative of the FN FAL, firing 7.62mm NATO”, the L2A1 AR “a full auto version of the L1A1”, the Owen SMG, the F1 SMG, and the Browning Hi-Power.
There will also be three new maps Long Tan, Rung Sac, and ANZAC which Tripwire and Antimatter are aiming to include Territories as well as Supremacy versions for teach one of them. The developer aims to be as historically accurate as possible and also states that they will rename ANZAC wth a proper name at a later time. In addition to the weapons and maps the update will also introduce a new helicopter the Bushranger which is the nickname for the The Royal Australian Air Force’s Huey gunships.
Concerning the new faction, the ANZAC troops will have uniforms, voices, and customization options exclusive only to them. There will also have a new Commander ability along with them called the Canberra bomber strike, in reference to Australian bombers based on the English Electric Canberra design. The updates release date is currently unknown but the given estimate is “approximately 2-months” from now.
