VD-Dev, the studio behind the graphically impressive IronFall Invasion for 3DS, have announced their next project, a futuristic racing game called RISE: Race the Future. The game will be released this winter for the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, 3DS, PC, and will be released on the NX in 2017.
RISE: Race the Future is a futuristic racing game about cars “powered by air lifting technology,” which may mean that the cars can race on all kinds of surfaces, even water. According to Nintendo Life, the game is inspired by the Sega Rally series, with the car designed by Automotive designer Anthony Jannarelly. The game’s website also promises an “epic story” which will tell the secrets behind air lifting technology. While many people don’t expect a story in a racing game, it’s always nice to have some kind of campaign.
What’s interesting about RISE: Race the Future is that it’s the only NX game that’s been confirmed except the new Zelda game. It’s also interesting that the game will be coming out on all the current consoles, including the Wii U and 3DS, which may give us an idea of the NX’s ability to play games. But since RISE is also coming out on the 3DS, we can’t be too sure.
VD-Dev’s last game IronFall Invasion was one of the most graphically impressive 3DS games released, and from the screenshots shown we can assume RISE: Race the Future will meet the studio’s standards. At least we know that the NX will have some third party support for its release, and that the NX can probably play games up to the standards of the Wii U and 3DS.
