The Rise of Phoenix update brings iconic locations and characters into the Marvel Snap roster. So many new features and bundles have been implemented that many fans of the X-Men will appreciate. This current season for Marvel Snap began on July third and will continue to run into the seventh of August.
Marvel Snap enters a new season as July rolls around; players waved goodbye to the Spider-Verse theme as the cosmic entity, Phoenix Force, takes the center stage. Players are able to obtain rewards through the free rewards track for this new season. Alternatively, players can buy a premium track to gain access to more exclusive content.
Some new cards have been added to the collection of Series 5 and Series 4 heroes respectively. In order to obtain these cards, players need their Collection level to be higher than 486 and unlock the Collection Cache. Other options are purchasing these cards from the Token Shops.
Jean Grey is a 3-cost, 3-power card that forces opponents to play their first at her location on each turn. The opponent would have no choice, but to play their first card at this location until it is full which could hinder the movement of their other cards. This ability makes her a perfect match for decks with Sera Control and Sera Surfer.
Legion is a card that replaces every other location with his own once revealed. When Legion is placed at a location, he will create copies of that location which has the potential of locking out the entire board.
Echo and Mirage are two cards expected to become available later on in the season. When Echo is played at a location, if an opponent places another card with an Ongoing ability, they will immediately lose it. However, not much has been revealed about the dynamics of the Mirage card yet.
Phoenix Force is a 5-cost, 6-power card that can revive and merge destroyed cards. When Phoenix force merges with destroyed cards, she acquires that destroyed card’s abilities as her own. However, Phoenix Force can only use this ability on the lowest cost cards in the deck, but she also gives those cards an extra two points towards power. Furthermore, she can move each turn which makes her a formidable player in Move and Destroy decks.
In addition, two locations have been added to Marvel Snap for the Rise of Phoenix update as well: Lake Hellas and White Hot Room. The White Hot Room is a location that gives the first player an additional three marks towards energy. Lake Hellas boosts any 1-cost, 2-power cards the player may have on the field. These locations add an extra layer of strategy to Marvel Snap as both of their respective effects can be positive or negative depending on the situation.
The Rise of Phoenix update also includes some new variants of pre-existing heroes within the Marvel Snap library. Moreover, there is Rise of the Phoenix Season Pass that offers a slew of rewards listed here. Later in the season, players can expect to witness the launch of Spotlight Caches which would allow them to open more Series 4 and Series 5 cards on collection tracks.
