Riot Games has announced that they were working on a hero-based first-person shooter dubbed Project A back in October. “It’s competitive, it has precise gunplay, it’s set on a beautiful near future earth and it has a lethal cast of characters, each with their own unique abilities,” Riot’s Anna Donlon says in the reveal video,”This is our take on a competitive shooter.” Project A appears to combine elements from Overwatch and Rainbow Six Siege into one game. Riot Games has officially kept the progress of Project A close to their chest.
Project A appears to have moved along far enough to acquire a release name. According to Polygon, Riot Games has registered a trademark called Valorant. Early leaks show off images of the character “Sage”. Sage has four abilities. The Barrier Orb creates a wall. The slow orb creates a field that slows down players. The Healing Orb heals allies. Sage’s Resurrection ability can bring an allied player back to life. Sage’s class type is called Sentinel, which appears to be the support focus class of the game.
“We promise that just like League, we’re in this for years and years to come. With Project A, we’re staying true to the high consequence gameplay of tac shooters, but we want to evolve the space, we want a tac shooter with more creativity, more expression, and a lot more style. In Project A, your abilities create amazing tactical opportunities for your gunplay to shine.” Anna Donlon said.
Several new Twitter accounts have popped up with Valorant in their handles but have remained silent so far. Riot Games is yet to outright confirm the name Valorant for Project A, but rumor has it that Riot Games will be disclosing more information on March 2nd. Possibly, Riot Games will have a playable build of Project A to demo as well as revealing its release name officially.
