The time has come for players to gear up and become Weavers in this upcoming looter shooter, RIFTSTORM. It is a co-op PvE action RPG where squads are deployed to fight hordes of enemies, collect resources, and take on a variety of missions. Players act as Weavers, elite operatives of the Mythic Protocol.
Weavers are trained to close rifts, wield supernatural powers, utilize unique tech, and survive encounters with mythic entities. Players may be given missions that focus on investigating anomalous activity, exterminating mythic threats, or containing rifts. Missions can be completed solo or with a 3-party squad.
In the field, players will be able to obtain powerful weapons and field upgrades. Their squad can continue fighting an ever escalating horde before extraction, but staying within these Rift Exposure Zones is risky. Not everyone may make it out and the enemies will only become harder to fight.
An Official Early Access trailer was posted today, showcasing a map with various types of missions players can select from. It also shows the different weavers players can select, each with their own stylized abilities, combat identity, and squad role. The trailer also highlights the horrific enemies players will encounter, which is perfect for the upcoming spooky season.
The game features modifiers that players can stack, unleashing their full potential against their enemies. There is also a weapon scarring system, which means that a player’s weapon will become scarred if they fail to extract. Players will also lose all the loot they collected that run. Scarred weapons will replace one of the weapon’s mods with a random negative one, increasing the risk and challenge players face in each mission.
Riftstorm is coming to Early Access on August 11th, but there is a demo available for PC players via Steam. The Early Access version will include five playable weavers: Rook, Starling, Hertz, Botsy, and Caracal. There is also an onboarding campaign to introduce players to the game and its functions.
There are missions available for Level 1 and 2 Threats. For players interested in facing Level 3 Threats, these missions are more experimental and less tightly balanced. Online co-op will also be available via in-game lobbies or through code invites, so have a squad ready to face these dangerous rifts.
