Dota 2, Valve’s famous free-to-play MOBA game competing with the likes of League of Legends and Smite, has offered some pretty impressive voice packs in the past, but their newest announcer voice pack has both surprised and pleased many fans of the game. Since their introduction to the television via Adult Swim, Rick and Morty has rocketed in popularity, and now they’re stepping up as announcers for Dota 2.
Justin Roiland, with a script written and supplied by PyrionFlax (a popular figure in the Dota 2 community), was happy to provide the voices for his iconic characters, Rick and Morty (although Roiland is known for his talented improv work, so it’s possible he went off script for the final product). The end result can be heard in the promotional YouTube video, supplied above.
Bringing in cool and unique voices for announcer voice packs is no new feat for Valve. Available before the Rick and Morty pack were packs featuring voices from games like Bastion and The Stanley Parable, both of which are known for their rather famous narrator’s voice. Players who are also fans of the show can hear Rick and Morty announce all the usual updates the default announcers says, like “first blood,” and “double kill,” with a relevant twist in each case that makes the lines unique.
Anyone interested in the voice pack can purchase it in-game or from here for $7.99, and anyone who hasn’t already can give Dota 2 a try for free by clicking here.
