Respawn Entertainment sure has been busy this year. The studio was just recently highlighted during the EA Play Live event, showcasing the newest update for Apex Legends, Apex Legends: Emergence. As it turns out, this isn’t the only thing that the studio has in store for us in the foreseeable future. One of the studios Creative Director’s, Mohammad Alavi, tweeted out four job listings for an unannounced “brand new singleplayer adventure.” Alavi also mentions that “We’re a small, but ambitious team with a history of dreaming big and making splashes.”
The four job listings that Alavi posted are Lead Technical Game Designer, Senior Technical Game Designer, Senior Combat Designer, and Senior Level Designer. Considering the amount of work that each position has in the game industry, it’s safe to assume that this project is more than likely in the very, very early stages of development. This also means that we will not hear or see anything concrete about this new IP for a very long time. Thankfully, the studio has several offerings to keep their fans at bay, and then some.
Respawn Entertainment’s resume of work speaks for itself. The studio has created some of the most beloved franchises in recent memory. This includes Titanfall, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and one of the most popular online multiplayer experiences, the aforementioned Apex Legends. The studio has essentially dabbled in every type of major game architype, and every time they’ve succeeded. They’ve shown that they’re up to the task, and whatever this new endeavor ends up being, the wait will definitely be worth it.
