Indie and solo developers have gotten more recognition over the years for their craftsmanship and dedication to their projects. They deserve the compliments they receive and more, everything that goes into creating a video game takes years of work and an abundance of creativity. Solo developer Torchlight Games is proof of this, after years of working on False Hero, it is finally available to play.
Growing up, this developer played The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and wanted to create something similar to it. Inspired by the dseigns of dungeons and the gameplay of puzzles and boss fights, sites like the Cliffs of Hope and unique boss fights within their game were born.
False Hero takes place in a “realm where the gods of life reign.” You, the player, foretell the spread of death among the land and ultimately become the person who can make a difference. It is up to you to fight for the gods for the greater good or become an apostle of death.
Fight in numerous fast-paced combat encounters where your learned combos can shine to defeat enemies and copy their attacks for future battles across a unique landscape.

False Hero is a solo dev game, retro-styled, fast-paced soulslike adventure with a unique combat system. The game focuses on challenging fights, skill mastery, and atmosphere rather than gear management, leveling, or grinding.
As a lifelong fan of Souls-like and adventure games, I tried to create my own take, looking more into the genre’s old-school roots. Everything, from the art and code to the music, has been handcrafted by me with care and attention to detail. No AI was used in the development process.
